Here are three ways to enable SSH on a RPi:

Command line version 1

This is the Raspberry Pi foundation's recommended method:

  1. Enter sudo raspi-config in a terminal window
  2. Select Interfacing Options
  3. Navigate to and select SSH
  4. Choose Yes
  5. Select Ok
  6. Choose Finish

Command line version 2

The fastest method:

  1. Enter sudo touch /boot/ssh in a terminal window.
  2. On next reboot, SSH will be enabled.


Launch Raspberry Pi Configuration from the Preferences menu

  1. Navigate to the Interfaces tab
  2. Select Enabled next to SSH
  3. Click OK
