This module uses the gateway's Bluetooth device to scan for and track other Bluetooth devices. This device uses the Bluetooth RSSI (equivalent to signal strength) to calculate where other Bluetooth devices are.

Multiple gateways are required to perform this function. We recommend using Raspberry Pi Zero W ($10) and a cheap Micro SD card (~$10 - we suggest SanDisk Ultra 16gb, but any available MicroSD card will work).

Using data from multiple sources, the master gateway will determine which slave gateway is reporting the strongest signal and set that device's location to the gateway reporting the strongest signal.
